Q: Can you explain how you collaborate with the author on design?
A: As professionals, we try to provide you the best information possible so that you can make informed decisions. Once you've elected to work with us, we will begin by listening to you about your vision for the book, how it should look and who you see as your prime market. We will review the manuscript and look for clues to communicate the essence of your title in a compelling way and present you with our conceptual design for the cover. Refinements are made until you agree the cover meets your expectations. Approximately 10% of the book's interior content will then be designed to show you how we envision the interior pages. If it meets with your approval we will continue layout and provide you the entire interior page proofs.
Q: What about editors and proof-readers, will I see their changes before we finish?
A: Absolutely. If Riverstone is charged with providing you with professional editing and proof reading services, think of us as your support team. Content editing is done for clarity of message and continuity throughout the book. Any suggested changes we might make will be flagged and shown to you before we continue. Proof-reading will occur multiple times in the course of the production process to be sure it is grammatically correct and punctuation is properly used. Most importantly, we strive to maintain the author's voice to preserve the essence of your style so that your book sounds like you.
Q: Before my book goes to print will I get to see it complete?
A: Yes, a final proof will be provided of both the cover and interior for your review. When you are satisfied that is ready, we will proceed, and not until then.
