Jesse Stanton grew up in the small town of Lancaster, Georgia where he was taught by his father, Mason, the qualities of honor, integrity, and respect of persons. After attending law school, Jesse ends up in Atlanta where he becomes an Assistant District Attorney. This gives him purpose and he loves the idea of prosecuting criminals—but remains naive.

Soon he is betrayed by the last person he would ever suspect: the love of his life—Laura. This betrayal causes him to be disbarred and exiled from everything he believes in: honor, integrity, respect, and most importantly—the law.

Twenty years later, the past comes to haunt him in the form of Joe Danka, Laura’s husband. He tells Jesse that Laura has been charged with murder, needs his help, and he is drawn back into the world he had hoped never to see again.

Having been reinstated to practice law, he undertakes to defend the one person that destroyed his life, and is again surrounded by dishonesty and deceit, not knowing who he can trust.

One thing he knows for certain: He can’t find his future until he confronts his past.
